OPC welcomes new Sales and Franchise Manager

15 May 2014

The Original Poster Company (OPC) is pleased to announce a new addition to its franchise support team. Andrew Cutler has joined the team as Sales and Franchise Manager.

Andrew started his career in retail in the late 70's as a field auditor. He went on to join a retail supermarket group as a Trainee Manager eventually taking control of his own branch in 1984. After completing a 2 year stint in the army doing national service, he returned to retail as Area Sales Manager for an international FMCG manufacturer and distributor.

In 1993 Andrew ventured into franchising by joining Shell South Africa as a Territory Manager when the roll out of the Select convenience store concept started. He held various roles in Shell over the next 12 years including Operations Manager for a step out company called Future Petroleum. He went on to take over the running of a large motorway service site as a franchisee. During this time, he temporarily left the employ of Shell to start his own company manufacturing automotive components which he then sold and returned to Shell to coach Franchise Managers.

In 2005, after a very successful career with Shell, Andrew and his family left South Africa and returned to the UK where he worked as General Manager for an upmarket franchised home transformation company. He later joined Card Connection as a Sales and Franchise Director where one of his responsibilities was franchisee recruitment.

Before joining OPC, Andrew was a Franchise Development Consultant for The Franchising Centre, Europe’s leading franchise advisor. Whilst working with businesses from all types of industries, this role has added a greater insight for Andrew into all aspects of franchising including development and financing from a franchisee’s perspective.

Andrew says, “My time spent as both a franchisor and a franchisee have really helped me to understand the franchise relationship having experienced it from both sides. I know how financially and personally rewarding a well-developed franchise system can be for all parties and it is this that will provide the most satisfaction in my new role.”

As OPC’s franchise network has been complete for the past 20 years, territories only become available as resales when franchisees are looking to retire or move on to new challenges. These resales are great opportunities for those looking for a franchise with an income from day one. An initial comprehensive training programme with regular ongoing field support provides new franchisees with all the support they need to grow their sales whilst working from home keeps overheads low and can therefore deliver great profit margins.
