Gaining control in the workplace with an OPC franchise

When Jacqui Fisher found that health issues were affecting her work life, she decided to take control by becoming her own boss and buying a franchise that could be flexible to her needs. After several months of research, it became clear that the Original Poster Company (OPC) greetings card franchise was just what she was looking for.

Jacqui has previously worked as a Senior Project Buyer and Repairs Project Manager in various industries including defence, motorsport and high-end electronics. She was determined to keep working in a job that would challenge her but give her some flexibility.

“I was looking at a variety of different franchises. I really like greetings cards, so I had a closer look at card franchises. I first read about OPC in a franchise magazine and also saw some OPC cards in my local post office. Out of all card franchises I looked at OPC had the highest quality products and, when I found out that the territory that covered where I live was coming up for resale, I knew it was the right franchise for me,” explains Jacqui.

The Original Poster Company (OPC) is the world’s leading greeting card distribution franchise, operating in a UK industry worth over £1.4 billion. Established in 1991, OPC’s franchise network has had complete UK coverage for over 20 years and is a full member of the British Franchise Association.

The OPC franchise allows Jacqui to apply her management skills while having the support she needs. She has taken over Chris Larkin’s Salisbury franchise with its stock, equipment and loyal base of customers. This allows her to avoid many of the pitfalls of starting her own business. Nonetheless, Jacqui like all new franchise owners at OPC, participated in an initial comprehensive training programme. She also receives regular ongoing field support from a dedicated Business Development Manager who provides her with all the support she needs to grow her sales and keep overheads low, whilst achieving great profit margins.

“The support is excellent, everything they have done for me so far is great. I have never been in a venture where everyone showed such professionalism and great support,” says Jacqui.

Like Chris, who retains his OPC Bournemouth franchise, other OPC franchisees are currently selling their existing territories as they retire or move on to new business opportunities, creating huge potential for new owners to step in!
